The Collective Sharehouse Community Food Support = Back Yard at Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Rd, YO23 1BW
When are volunteers needed: Monday afternoons - our Sainsburys & Asda delivery slot is 3-4pm with keys collected in advance, and returned afterwards, from a nearby location. Occasionally takes a little longer if vans are late.
This is currently a shared role so not necessarily every week.

Role description:
To ensure the smooth, safe running of our Monday online food delivery session.
- collecting keys from nearby location and unlocking the Sharehouse storage spaces
- welcoming and supporting the 2/3 regular volunteers
- overseeing the safe unloading of the supermarket vans into our dedicated storage crates
- helping with lifting, carrying and sorting crates (if physically able)
- ensuring the space is left clean, tidy and secure
- locking up afterwards and returning keys to the nearby location
- communicating any issues, delays or concerns to the volunteer manager
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Skills:
- Reliability - able to arrive on time and ensure the session can open safely
- Basic organisational skills - keeping the session running smoothly and calmly
- Clear communication - able to guide volunteers and liaise with drivers
- Awareness of safety - spotting risks, ensuring safe lifting and maintaining a safe workspace
- Ability to follow procedures - especially around keys, locking up and handling deliveries
- Confidence in light problem solving - eg. late vans, missing crates, weather issues
Behaviours:
- Supportive and inclusive - helping volunteers feel valued and confident
- Practical and hands-on - willing to muck in whatever`s needed
- Respectful and community minded - representing the work of The Sharehouse positively
- Calm under pressure - eg. when deliveries arrive at the same time
- Good judgement - knowing when to escalate an issue or ask for help
