Role description:
The St. Sampson’s Centre has been serving the community in York for over 50 years. We aim to provide a safe and welcoming space for everyone to come and relax, have fun, and meet others. Our café is open from Monday – Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM, and we have regular activities and events for people to take part in. We are almost entirely run by a team of very hard-working volunteers and could not do what we do without them, but we need more people to join our team. If you are looking to support your local community, and are interested in any of the roles below, please get in touch.
• Morning food preparation
• Serving customers
• Operating the till
• Collecting trays and cleaning tables
• Reception - welcoming customers, selling donated items, running the tombola
• Sammie’s – Separate café for pre-schoolers that runs on a Friday morning
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
• Good customer service
• Communication skills
• Good housekeeping
• Excellent food and hygiene standards
• Flexibility to ensure roles are covered
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work well in a team environment
