Role description:
Our IT ReUse Workshop needs volunteers with IT knowledge and experience to support our programme which takes donated IT equipment, wipes and repairs it, and gets it into the hands of individuals who need it.
Responsibilities of the role:
• Data erasure for donated PC & mobile devices
• Repairing software and hardware faults in PCs, smartphones, and tablets (including board level)
• Installing & testing new OS & software installations
• Researching & developing new software, tests, and specifications
• Listing items on eBay and other ecommerce sites
• Marketing and outreach to reach potential donors
What we expect from you:
• A minimum time commitment of 4 hours per week
• Ideally, a set volunteering pattern adjusted to your needs, abilities, and other commitments
• Being passionate, ready to get involved, and respectful of the workshop space
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Ideally, if you reach one of the following criteria, you’d be a great fit:
- A related qualification above GCSE level
- Some level of previous work or voluntary experience in IT
- Active interest in computer science, IT, hardware/software development (For example, you’ve taken on IT projects in your spare time such as coding, keeping up with trends, building PCs etc)
- Looking for a career in technology and IT, especially hardware and repair
Who this role would suit:
Somebody with an interest and background in IT who is looking to gain more experience or contribute their skills as a volunteer

• Relevant PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when needed
