RAY works in York. Our vision is for all refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to be welcomed and fully accepted into local and regional communities, where they can feel safe and empowered to rebuild their lives.
When are volunteers needed: Trustee meetings take place 8 times a year, during the evening. Half of these are online, and half in-person. Trustees are also invited to attend one of RAY's hub sessions from time to time.

Role description:
Trustees have ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the charity, ensuring that RAY is solvent, well-run, complying with the law and the requirements of the Charity Commission, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it was set up. Trustees also each oversee the development of a particular area of responsibility in line with RAY's Strategic Plan.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
We are looking for a trustee who has an HR background. RAY has access to professional HR support and advice, e.g. to make sure that its HR policies are up to date. This trustee will take an overview of these arrangements and advise the board to ensure that all necessary provisions are in place.
