Role description:
To support Make It York in offering a high-quality experience to visitor, residents and local businesses through supporting the work of the Visitor Information Service and assisting with the delivery of festivals, major events and member events.
The current focus on volunteer recruitment is for York Ice Trail 2026:
York’s coolest event is back for 2026, and we need you! The York Ice Trail transforms the city into a sparkling ice adventure hunt, with over 30 incredible hand-carved ice sculptures and event elements to explore; we’re expecting thousands of visitors to attend.
We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help make the event unforgettable. From welcoming visitors and giving directions to supporting the event team, you’ll play a key role in bringing the trail to life.
Event dates: 7th – 8th February 2026
Location: York City Centre
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
-Customer Service Skills: A friendly and helpful personality is essential.
-Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers.
-Knowledge of the Local Area: Familiarity with local attractions, events, and services.
-Organisational Skills: Ability to keep track of event details and manage tasks effectively.
-Enthusiasm: A willingness to share information and promote MIY and its services.
-Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing event schedules and locations.
