We prefer for reasons of client stability and service provision that you are able to volunteer for 2 hours per week. The duration of each of our client sessions is one hour.

We will of course be flexible and work with you in relation to your contribution, this is a volunteer agreement and we understand life does not always run smoothly and occasionally other priorities may take precedence.

We are flexible about when you help and work within the constraints of our service rota and client allocation so, please let us know if you would prefer a different arrangement.

Role description:
Volunteer Therapist Opportunity – EMDR Training Provided
York Women’s Counselling Service is seeking an accredited counsellor or psychotherapist to join our small, passionate team of volunteer therapists.

We provide high-quality low-cost therapy to vulnerable women across York, and we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to making a meaningful difference.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
We are recruiting an accredited counsellor.

This includes compliance with policies specifically implemented to protect yourself, our clients and other YWCS volunteers and staff; such as, health and safety, data protection and safeguarding.

As counsellors best practice requires regular professional supervision with a registered qualified supervisor and we ask you have this arrangement in place to cover your work as a YWCS volunteer counsellor. We also ask that you have arrangements in place for emergency cover if your clinical supervisor is unavailable.

We expect you to maintain membership of a counselling professional body, such as BACP or UKCP and to adhere to their best practice standards and ethical principles in the provision of counselling to our service users.
