Location of voluntary activity:
Based from our office in Tang Hall Community Centre with work in various green spaces and rural locations in York, North and East Yorkshire.
We can offer transport to sites in our minibus though spots are limited, please contact us to register and book a spot if required.
When are volunteers needed: We run sessions from 9am to 4pm every week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

Role description:
Join us to carry out practical conservation projects throughout York and the surrounding countryside to improve green spaces for people and wildlife.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
- Tree planting, woodland thinning/coppicing and hedge laying in winter.
- Pond maintenance and pond creation in spring and autumn.
- Invasive species removal, cutting/raking hay meadows and other habitat management tasks in summer.
- Improving footpaths, building fences, repairing boardwalks or footbridges at any time of year.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
TCV York’s Practical Conservation Volunteers are a friendly and diverse group of people of mixed ages, genders, background and capabilities. No experience is required as guidance, tools and PPE are all provided. All we ask is that volunteers respect each other and work safely within their own capabilities to contribute positively to the group’s activities.
