Role description:
A TCV Volunteer Conservation Officer will help with the coordination and execution of conservation projects around York and the North Yorkshire region with the help of various groups and volunteers.
Practical projects involve a wide range of tasks such as tree and hedgerow planting, small construction projects (ponds, raised beds, footpaths) and other habitat management tasks. Administrative tasks may include volunteer engagement and communications, publicity and helping with social media.
You will also receive training in things like leadership, first aid and risk assessment.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
There are no official requirements to apply for this role though enthusiasm for nature conservation and learning is key. Some experience with practical work, general IT skills and previous work with volunteer groups would be beneficial but not essential.

A full and clean driving licence can be helpful as you will be able to gain experience in driving the minivan to/from sites.

Volunteer Officers are expected to respect all TCV colleges and volunteers, work safely and contribute positively to the teams’ activities.

Volunteer Conservation Officers will gain experience in practical skills related to conservation and community projects, with many transferable skills that can be taken to different professions. Each Volunteer Officer will receive a training budget for training in courses like First Aid, Health and Safety etc.
