Role description:
We are a member-led charity that brings creativity and purpose to the lives of adults with learning disabilities and assist them on their mental health journeys.
We support individuals on both a short-term and long-term basis, helping them build confidence, connection, and a sense of purpose.
As a Woodwork Volunteer, you will help lead our woodworking group with support from staff. You will share your existing skills in relaxed, welcoming sessions where members can explore woodworking through both group and individual projects.
What You’ll Do
• Support relaxed and welcoming woodworking sessions.
• Share your woodworking skills with members.
• Help members take part in group and individual projects.
• Use a variety of woodworking approaches, depending on members’ interests and abilities.
This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the service and its members, while gaining experience and developing your own skills.
All tools, wood, and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
• Have experience and proficiency in woodwork.
• Communicate well, including active listening skills
• Warm, friendly, and compassionate demeanor.
• Adaptability to engage with people of varying abilities and preferences.
• A genuine interest in contributing to the well-being of the people we support.
