When are volunteers needed: The fabric arts volunteer would be required on a Monday from 11:00 am to 13:00 pm. (Some flexibility with hours)

Role description:
We are a member-led charity that brings creativity and purpose to the lives of adults with learning disabilities and assist them on their mental health journeys.
We support individuals on both a short-term and long-term basis, helping them build confidence, connection, and a sense of purpose.
The fabric arts volunteer will explore the world of textiles with our members, leading on an activity with staff support, teaching and coaching our members to develop new skills and to have fun with fabrics. Equipment required for the activity will be provided.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
• Have an experience of knitting and crochet sowing needlework, machine-sewing, decorative handwork etc.
• Communicate well, including through active listening and empathy
• Can build positive relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds
• Leading on activities to provide direction and participation
• Developing and enhancing members skills
• Ensuring the sessions are fun.

Once your application has been reviewed and the role is confirmed, you will be invited for an informal chat and a taster session for the activity. To help keep the people we support safe, all volunteers working directly with vulnerable individuals must complete an enhanced DBS check and provide two satisfactory references before their role is confirmed.
