Supported Volunteering Project

Start your volunteering journey

Volunteering can be a rewarding way to connect with your community, build confidence, develop new skills and make a positive difference. The Supported Volunteering Project offers tailored, step-by-step support to help you get started.

Designed for adults in York who are accessing the YOR Community Wellbeing Health Hubs, or who may currently be experiencing challenges with confidence, motivation or anxiety, the Supported Voluntering Project provides personalised one-to-one guidance alongside supportive group sessions.

Support can include:

  • Finding information about local volunteering opportunities
  • Identifying the right volunteer role for you
  • Contacting organisations and completing application forms
  • Visiting potential volunteer placements
  • Attending workshops to build confidence and skills
  • Trying out volunteering in a supportive and manageable way

Every person’s journey is different, which is why our support is shaped around your individual needs and aspirations. Whether you’re taking your first steps into volunteering or looking to reconnect with your community, we’re here to help you build confidence and discover opportunities that work for you.

Take the first step today and explore how volunteering could benefit you and your community.
