Community groups, voluntary organisations and individuals across the region can now apply for grants through the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Community Fund, which has reopened for applications of up to £30,000.
The Community Fund supports projects focused on early intervention, prevention and community safety. To date it has awarded more than £3 million to hundreds of local initiatives across York and North Yorkshire.
Eligible projects include diversionary activities for children and young people, work to reduce the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour, support for victims, community cohesion initiatives, and crime prevention schemes.
Who can apply
Funds from £500 up to £30,000 can be awarded for specific projects that support communities within North Yorkshire to “Be Safe and Feel Safe”, including:
- Diversionary activities for children and young people
- Promoting safety and reducing the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour
- Support for victims
- Improving community cohesion
- Preventing crime and anti-social behaviour
- Supporting the purchase of specific pieces of equipment in key community locations
