Two Ridings Community Foundation – Small Grants Fund

The Small Grants Fund supports small voluntary and community groups, small charities and other not-for-profit organisations (including eligible CICs and CBSs) with an annual turnover of under £150,000.

Priority will be given to organisations that:

• Support people who are most disadvantaged, either because they are based in an area of disadvantage or because they work with a community experiencing disadvantage
• Address needs identified by local people
• Improve quality of life, wellbeing, health, community engagement, environmental work, youth volunteering or extracurricular education
• Meet urgent community needs, such as food, clothing, bedding or mental health support

Funding of between £200 and £2,500 is available for:

• Ongoing project costs
• Pilot projects
• Small capital expenditure
• Organisational development
• Overheads that enable organisations to meet the needs of beneficiaries better.

Funding can support projects or organisational costs for up to 24 months. Organisations can only hold one active Small Grants Fund award at a time.

Examples of projects that could be supported include:

• Volunteer recruitment and training
• Developing new activities or pilot projects
• Purchasing equipment to increase participation
• Activities for young people in areas of disadvantage
• Staff or freelance support to increase organisational capacity
• Building improvements to make venues more accessible
• Publicity materials
• Organisational running costs

To be eligible for funding, your organisation must:

• Be a small voluntary organisation, community group, small charity or eligible not-for-profit organisation where the purpose of the grant is wholly charitable
• Be based in East Yorkshire, Hull, North Yorkshire or York
• Have a governing document outlining charitable objectives and a charitable dissolution clause
• Have a bank account in the organisation’s name with at least two unrelated signatories
• Have an annual income of under £150,000

The Small Grants Fund is open all year round.
