Role description:
Since 1988, Peasholme Charity has been at the heart of York’s response to poverty, homelessness, and social exclusion.
We believe in working with individuals, not for them – providing guidance, support, and the tools they need to build more secure and independent lives.
Whether someone is facing a short-term crisis or seeking longer-term support, we offer a space to be heard, advice that makes a difference, and help navigating systems that can often feel overwhelming.
Our goal is not to just give quick fixes, but to help people find lasting change, on their own terms, in their own time.

Trustees of Peasholme Charity are responsible for ensuring the charity is well governed, legally compliant, financially sound, and focused on delivering its charitable purposes.
As a Trustee - Finance and Funding you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the charities finances
- Overseeing funding applications
- You will not be responsible for the charity's bookkeeping, but will oversee it
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
- A good knowledge of accountancy
- Experience managing cashflow
- Experience of grants
- Experience with lone working (or willingness to learn)
- Experience of safeguarding (or willingness to learn)
- Passionate about the charity's mission

What will the volunteer gain/benefit from:
Working with a small team well versed in housing policies and the legal responsibilities of being a charity trustee. They will help oversee a staff of up to 9 field workers who visit people in crisis situations and who are in need of guidance in managing budgets and securing tenancies.
