Gilly’s, the working name of The Gillian Stevenson Charitable Trust, provides development grants to small charities across North Yorkshire that improve the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and adults.
The fund is particularly interested in helping small charities strengthen, develop or grow their work. Funding could support organisations to:
- Purchase equipment
- Improve systems and technology
- Fit out or adapt premises
- Increase capacity
- Develop new activities or services
- Build longer-term sustainability
- Take the next step in their organisation’s development
Gilly’s is particularly interested in charities that are committed to learning and development and are open to building an ongoing supportive relationship with the funder.
Who can apply?
Applicants should:
- Be based in North Yorkshire or primarily deliver services within North Yorkshire
- Be a UK registered charity, or have exempt or excepted charitable status
- Be run entirely by volunteers, or by volunteers alongside a small number of paid staff
- Support children, young people, families or adults whose quality of life is affected by disability, ill-health or challenging circumstances
Community Interest Companies (CICs) are not eligible.
What size grants are available?
Development grants of up to £5,000 are available.
How to apply
Gilly’s opens for applications once a year, usually in the autumn.
When applications are open, organisations can request a link to the online application form by emailing [email protected].
Applications are reviewed by the trustees, with shortlisted organisations invited to an informal telephone or video call before final decisions are made.
Organisations are encouraged to check the eligibility criteria before applying. If you are unsure whether your charity is a good fit, Gilly’s welcomes enquiries before an application is submitted.
