Role description:
Support Age UK York, your local charity, by being a marshal at the Yorkshire Marathon/10 mile on 20th October.
Marshals help the runners have a fantastic experience, encouraging, cheering and supporting. They are vital to the marathon/10 mile event, which takes place on closed roads. Marshals ensure that these are maintained and that runners are kept safe. Whilst keeping an eye on the route you will primarily be there to sing (if you wish), dance and cheer runners as they take on the mile.
The event simply could not happen without marshals so you can be certain you’ll make a difference!
The impact of what you do is felt far beyond the start line on race day and we know so many will be grateful of your support and words of encouragement along the way.
Who are Age UK York?
For over 50 years, our mission, and reason for being, is to be there for older people helping to improve the quality of later life for local people and communities and to put all our efforts into provide effective, timely support for those who need it the most. We do this each day through providing a range of services, though we can only continue to do so thanks to the generosity of our team, including staff, volunteers and supporters – just like yourselves. In raising vital funds and entrusting us to use every penny to fund what we exist to do, you too are part of the story of those people receiving help and support from Age UK York and the difference that together we can make.
We are a charity partner of Run For All, who are part of the lasting legacy of
