When are volunteers needed: When am I needed?

The Donation Centre is open Monday – Saturday 9am – 4:30pm and 10am – 4pm on a Sunday and cannot function without volunteer support.

We offer three standard shifts each day:
- 8:45am – 12:15pm
- 11:00am – 2:00pm
- 1:00pm – 4:45pm
- Sunday 9:45am - 1pm
- Sunday 1pm - 4:15pm

We can also accommodate alternative shift times, provided these are at least 2 hours long. Weekly or fortnightly commitments are preferred.

Role description:
We are looking for volunteers to help sort through our mountains of donated goods and organise stock for the coming months to send out to our 15 shops. Our Donation Centre accepts donations from members of the public 7 days a week and our retail department raises vital funds for St Leonard’s through the sale of pre-loved goods through our shops and is also a valuable face of the Hospice across our local communities.

What will I be doing?
- Working alongside staff and other volunteers in the warehouse in Clifton Moor, York
- Accepting donations from the public and promoting the Gift Aid scheme
- Moving and processing donations to sell in our shops
- Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy and welcoming

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
What skills and qualities will I need?
- Ability to work under the instruction of the manager and work as part of a team of volunteers
- Have a positive attitude
- Demonstrate good attention to detail
- Full training will be provided so a willingness to learn new skills or bring your own skills and knowledge to the role
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Good handwriting, spelling, and numeracy

An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and sensitivity
