When are volunteers needed: The Donation Centre is open Monday to Saturday, 9am-4pm.
Morning shifts tend to run 9am – 1pm, Afternoon shifts tend to run 12:30pm – 4:00pm although other shifts can be accommodated as long as they are at least 2 hours in length. Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred.
Duke of Edinburgh shifts take place on Saturdays, are a minimum of 2 hours for age 14 years and over and require a commitment of at least three months.

Role description:
Our retail department raises vital funds for St Leonard’s through the sale of pre-loved goods through our shops and is also a valuable face of the Hospice across our local communities.
Currently we are looking for volunteers to sort donations and tag them
We are also looking for volunteers with an interest and knowledge of books and media (welcome any day of the week)
We are looking for someone who has knowledge of clothing and can spot a designer label or two and knows their brands or a friendly and confident person to greet and accept donations from the public. This involves advising on what we can accept and promoting our Gift Aid scheme.
We also welcome volunteers who have a specialist interest and knowledge of cameras, toys, collectables, and electrical equipment.

What will I be doing?
Working alongside staff and other volunteers in the warehouse in Acomb, York
Accepting donations from the public and promoting the Gift Aid scheme
Moving and processing donations to sell in our shops
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Ability to deal with enquiries from the general public
Good sense of humour
Full training will be provided so a willingness to learn new skills or bring your own skills and knowledge to the role
Ability to work under the instruction of the manager and work as part of a team of volunteers
