Role description:
The Chair leads The Groves Association, providing direction and acting as its public face. You will chair meetings, represent the association with local authorities and partners, and support the board to work effectively for the community. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about their neighbourhood and can bring people together.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide leadership and ensure the association operates in line with its constitution and values.

• Chair board and commitee meetings and the AGM, setting agendas with the Secretary and following up on actions.

• Represent the association at meetings with the council, housing providers, and partner organisations.

• Work with the Treasurer to ensure finances are managed responsibly.

• Support and guide board members and volunteer leads.

• Lead on recruiting new board members and volunteers as needed.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
• A genuine commitment to improving life for residents in the local community.

• Strong leadership skills — able to motivate, chair meetings confidently, and build positive relationships.

• Sound judgement, integrity, and the ability to remain impartial and fair.

• Good organisational skills and basic IT (email, word processing, video calls).

• Experience in a committee, trustee, or leadership role is a bonus but not essential.
