Role description:
Raise York are looking for volunteers to support our Family Hubs. The Parent Champions programme is based on the idea that parents are the best people to help other parents find out about childcare and other family services. Parents can build trust with their peers by sharing experiences of using local services and explaining how to access local childcare options and other family services. Parent Champions help parents find the pieces they need to complete the jigsaw. Parent Champions make a real difference by shaping services, signposting parents.
The role can be active in your local community, such as at school gates, playgroups, or in one of our Family Hubs alongside our Family Navigators. Help the families around you get the support they need to improve their families lives and outcomes for children.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Parent Champions do not need any qualifications however there are some attributes that are looked for such as -
Good listening skills
The ability to build and maintain relationships.
Ability to communicate well with others.
A non-judgmental attitude.
A respectful attitude
An understanding of the needs of people who may be vulnerable.

Driving Licence required? No

Volunteer's own vehicle required? No
