When are volunteers needed: We’re looking for volunteers who work flexibly, including early morning and late afternoons. We can be flexible around your other commitments and shift times will be agreed in advance.

Role description:
York Centre for Voluntary Service (York CVS) is an independent charity supporting York’s voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector to make positive change. We also manage the Priory Street Centre, a shared space for charities and community groups to meet, collaborate, and deliver services.

This is a varied, flexible role supporting the Priory Street Centre team at York CVS. As a Conference Centre Volunteer, you will help provide a welcoming and well-run environment for everyone using our conference centre. You’ll help with meet and greets, refreshments, room set ups and light IT tasks. It’s a great opportunity to get insight into a busy conference centre, build new skills, and contribute to work that supports many organisations across York.

Key Tasks:
- Meet and greet visitors and groups, showing them to their rooms
- Help prepare refreshments
- Help with cleaning cups, cutlery and preparing/replenishing refreshment trollies
- Choose from a list of conference centre tasks to support the smooth running of events
- Help prepare rooms for events or bookings, when needed

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
This role is ideal for someone who is:
- Friendly, confident, and enjoys working with people
- Organised and happy to help with a range of tasks
- Comfortable using basic IT equipment [media screens etc.)
- Interested in charities, volunteering, and community work
- Looking to give back, gain experience, or build new skills
- Experience of working in events is desirable
