Hybrid: working from home plus attending quarterly board meeting in central York

When are volunteers needed: Volunteers will need to:
Attend 4 quarterly Board Meetings (4-6 hours on a Saturday)
Spend 2-4 hours a month attending to other admin duties

The role will be quite autonomous and conducted remotely. Apart from the meetings, you can set your own hours. The Board Chair and operational team will be available to support you in the role and will liaise closely in the run up to Board meetings

Role description:
As the Secretary to the board you will be responsible for:
- Scheduling and communicating quarterly Board Meeting dates
- Assisting the operational team and Board Chair to draft and circulate the Agenda and Board papers in advance of each meeting
- Taking and circulating notes
- Monitoring a dedicated email inbox
- Helping to organise our annual AGM
- Ensuring annual compliance reporting is completed and submitted in a timely fashion.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Confidence with Google Workspace apps particularly Gmail, G-drive, Google Calendar and Googledocs
- Skilled at taking meeting minutes
- Comfortable with governance and statutory reporting to relevant authorities through online portals

As secretary to the Board you will help a successful Community Land Trust with over 600 members move into its exciting next phase. We have delivered our first site at Lowfield Green in Acomb and have ambitions to begin new projects all round the city. You will be deeply embedded in our organisation and you will grow your organizational and governance skills considerably. You will gain direct experience of how Community Land Trusts work to help their local community; plus the confidence gained from being part of a small but committed team delivering tangible results. Help us deliver more affordable, sustainable, community centered housing across York.
