We have 10 shops and a Donation Centre across York at the following locations:

When are volunteers needed: When am I needed?
Our shops are open Monday – Saturday 9am – 4:30pm and our Clifton Moor Site is open 7 days a week.
We offer three standard shifts each day:
- 8:45am – 12:15pm
- 11:00am – 2:00pm
- 1:00pm – 4:45pm
We can also accommodate alternative shift times, provided these are at least 2 hours long. Weekly or fortnightly commitments are preferred.

Role description:
We are looking for volunteers to help behind the scenes sorting stock and pricing it ready for sale. Our retail department raises vital funds for St Leonard’s through the sale of pre-loved goods and is also a valuable face of the Hospice across our local communities.
What will I be doing?
- Working with staff and volunteers in the back of the shop
- Sorting and preparing donated items for sale
- Hanging, ticketing, and labelling (including Gift Aid)
- Checking items are complete and in good working order
- Recycling unsalable goods appropriately
- Preparing stock for the shop floor
- Identifying high-value items for further research or online sale
- Keeping the back room clean and tidy
- Moving bags and boxes of donations (may involve lifting)
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
What skills and qualities will I need?
- Positive attitude
- Able to follow instructions and work well in a team
- Demonstrate good attention to detail
- An interest in clothing brands and trends is useful but not essential
- A willingness to learn new skills, no experience necessary
- Be able to maintain confidentiality
