Role description:
Benevolent Hearts Community Kitchen is a proposed charity aiming to provide free cookery sessions to individuals and families from disadvantaged communities in York (such as food bank users and those on low incomes).
As the Treasurer Trustee, you will take the lead on financial oversight to ensure our charity remains financially viable and fully compliant. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the charity's overall financial health and contributing to strategic planning.
- Managing day-to-day banking and book-keeping.
- Preparing financial reports for Trustee meetings and compiling annual accounts.
- Ensuring proper financial systems, controls, and policies are in place.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Financial management, bookkeeping, or accountancy experience (ideally with some knowledge of charity finance, though not essential).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to translate financial data into clear, understandable reports for non-financial Trustees.
Commitment to the charity’s mission and ethical financial governance.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a strategic team.
