Trustees are also invited to attend the annual strategy meeting and relevant training sessions

Role description:
Are you looking to make a lasting impact in your community? Do you have experience and insights to guide a charity making a difference? Peasholme Charity is seeking passionate individuals to join our board of trustees.

We are a small, dynamic charity supporting disadvantaged and socially excluded individuals, especially those at risk of homelessness. Our work empowers people to overcome poverty and social exclusion, helping them realise their aspirations and achieve their full potential.

What will the role involve?

As a trustee, you’ll play an important role in shaping and guiding the charity’s work. You’ll:

Support and advice on the charity’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities

Approve operational strategies and policies, monitoring their implementation

Oversee the charity’s financial planning, budgeting, and progress

Ensure the charity operates effectively and efficiently

Identify and manage key risks

Review and approve financial statements

Support and challenge the CEO to ensure they meet the charity’s goals

Stay informed about changes in the operating environment

Contribute to regular governance reviews

Attend and contribute to 5 board meetings annually (virtual or in-person in York)

Promote and protect the charity’s interests, using independent judgment, and acting in good faith

Occasionally, trustees may be involved beyond meetings, offering advice, reviewing initiatives, and supporting the executive team.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for trustees who can bring enthusiasm, commitment, and fresh ideas to the board. We’re especially interested in individuals with skills in marketing, communications and/or governance, but you don’t need prior trustee experience—we’ll provide a full induction and training.
