Role description:
York Older Peoples Assembly (YOPA) wants to recruit new Trustees to help lead and develop this small volunteer-lead charity. YOPA works to promote inclusion and access, and to maximise ways of aging well. We work to address those issues which might create barriers to achieving successful ageing and we showcase the contribution that elders continue to make to the wider community.
Our Trustees are responsible for ensuring that YOPA is well governed, legally compliant, financially sound, and works with a clear focused strategy and programme for the benefit of older people in York.
Our Trustee Board (Executive Committee) meets every two months to review plans and challenges. We look to our Trustees to play an involved and practical role in assessing new opportunities and in helping us to maximise our impact.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Most importantly we are looking for people who want to work constructively within a team to provide help, guidance and practical support to our small charity.
A strong commitment to supporting our 50+ population as they become older is essential. Whilst particular professional skills are welcome, it is more important that Trustees are willing to bring their experience and life skills, and to work in a co-operative way.
