The City of York Council (CYC) are creating a new extensive woodland on 194-acres of land to the West of York. This project has an ambition to plant 50,000 trees by 2023 and is at present known as York Community Woodland until it is formally named. The new woodland will create a new bio- diverse green place for the city and is an exciting project for York!
Over the last few months the council has completed a detailed land character assessment. This report has given them a good understanding of the opportunities and constraints presented by the site and they have used this information to develop several woodland concept designs. These designs are not exclusive of each other and have been created to show what the woodland could look like.
The council are currently seeking the views of residents and local organisations to tell them what they think about their plans and ideas in a short survey linked below. The consultation phase is running until Wednesday 26 May.
Please view the woodland concept designs to see what the woodland could look like, details on how to then submit your feedback are below.
