Start a conversation today…

Today, 3 February, is national Time to Talk Day, a day to encourage people to have open conversations about mental health. Run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness in partnership with Co-op, the day is all about ‘creating supportive communities by having conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about mental health. We all have mental health, by talking about it we can support ourselves and others’.

York Ending Stigma (previously Time to Change York) is a locally funded campaign to end mental health stigma in York; in our workplaces, in our health settings, and in our community. Our volunteer YES Champions share their lived experience of mental ill-health in a variety of ways, openly or anonymously, to help bust myths and end stigma.

This time to talk day, our YES Champions will be in conversation at York Rail Station, giving out YES merchandise and Time to Talk Day leaflets to passers-by. They’ll also be encouraging people to write down how they are feeling on a small card cut-out person which will be stuck to a board to capture the ‘mood of York’.
