York Ending Stigma is holding an online event specifically for employers on Monday 7 November (12:30 – 14:00 via Zoom).
The online “Let’s talk mental health at work” event is part of a bi-annual series of events where you can find out some of the practical things you can do to help end mental health stigma in your workplace, with opportunities to learn from direct experience of people living and working in York whilst experiencing poor mental health, and for you to share your best practice.
Listen to the latest YES podcast episode – Mental Health And Self Harm
In the latest YES Podcast, YES Champions share their experiences of what self-harm means to them (this includes any connections that they may have between self-harm and any suicidal thoughts and behaviours), the things that have helped them to reduce their self-harmful behaviours, and some of the things that they think both themselves and other people can do to help them.
The Champions are sharing their experiences to help break down some barriers of talking about the subject of self-harm and to challenge some of the stereotypes associated with self-harm. They do not talk about detailed methods of self-harm, but they do mention general types of self-harm.
You can also read a blog written by Hazel about the stigmas surrounding self harm.
