Role description:
Do you have experience of caring for a loved one and understanding the impact this can have? Do you have an empathic nature and enjoy listening and helping people? Do you have experience of navigating your way through services? Are you ready to join a warm and friendly team to provide carers with telephone support for as little as a couple of hours per week, for a minimum commitment period of 6 months? Our Telephone Listening Service aims to support lonely, isolated carers, in need of company or respite by taking a break from their caring role.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Communication skills would be an advantage and computer skills would be useful.

Will there be a DBS check? Yes

Driving Licence required? No

Volunteer's own vehicle required? No

What will the volunteer gain/benefit from:
Volunteers will hopefully gain an understanding of the issues faced by unpaid carers and how to help signpost them for appropriate support.

A full recruitment, training and support package is available. Volunteers will also have access to internal and externally sourced free training.
