This week (10 – 16 June) is National Carers Week, the theme this year is ‘Putting carers on the map’. Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

The local York organisation, York Carers Centre, has an activity calendar packed with events throughout the week. Each activity offers a chance for carers to talk to a support worker and other local people that live in similar circumstances.
