Two Riding Community Foundation would like your help to shape the application guidance for the upcoming York Community Fund.

The York Community Fund is a new independent fund, administered by Two Ridings. It has been created for the people who live, work and study in York, to support vibrant and purposeful community action that actively improves the wellbeing of everyone in the city. It also provides a point whereby donors can collectively contribute into a fund specifically for York people and communities.

The Fund builds on and strengthens the energy, impact and potential of York’s voluntary and community groups and their vital contributions to life in the city especially for those who experience greatest disadvantage.

The York Community Fund addresses the needs of local people in the city in relation to:

  • Equalities and Human Rights - providing equality of opportunity
  • Affordability - taking action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis
  • Climate - taking action to enhance the environment and respond to the climate emergency
  • Health – reducing health inequalities

What are the needs and opportunities you are seeing / experiencing in York’s communities that could benefit from resource and support through this funding?

They want as many people as possible to be involved in helping to shape the funding criteria for the York Community Fund grant scheme, so they can ensure groups are funded to provide support that works for the community. You might be a York resident who can see a need in the city, or you may work / volunteer for a local community group or charity. Two Ridings hope to hear from a wide range of people who bring valuable lived or learned experience and knowledge to ensure diverse backgrounds are represented in our survey and everyone’s voice is included in shaping the grant criteria.

All the feedback from this survey will be anonymous and presented to a panel of people like you, who will agree the criteria of what potential applicants can apply for. If you would like to be involved in the decision-making process, Two Ridings is looking for people to be part of a grant panel. Please take a look at the following Expression of Interest online form for further information (closing date Thursday 25 July).

Deadline: noon on Monday 5th August

York Community Fund is a partnership between Two Ridings Community Foundation, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, City of York Council, York CVS and York Together.
