Role description:
Purpose
We are looking for volunteers to help with the smooth running of our intervention communication and physiotherapy groups. This may include setting up the room ensuring the relevant resources are ready, supporting the children during the session and/or welcoming the parents and assisting them whilst their children are in a session. The position will require you to interact closely with young people with Down’s syndrome, intervention delivery staff and therapists. This is an unpaid position, undertaken on a voluntary basis.
Duties include the following;
• Support with the setting up of the intervention room ensuring the required resources and equipment is ready for the session.
• Support in the production of resources such as sight word matching boards and flash cards.
• Welcome families to the sessions and making parents a drink as necessary.
• Support the children to remain engaged and provide encouragement and support as needed during the intervention sessions.

• All Shine21 roles are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
• Ability to work in accordance with Shine21 policy documents in particular safeguarding.
• Passionate about promoting positive awareness regarding Down Syndrome and the Shine21’s mission and objectives.
