Role description:
Safe and Sound Homes (SASH) is an ambitious charity working with young people aged 16-25 to avoid or break the cycle of homelessness across the City of York and surrounding by offering a place to stay in the homes of our exceptional hosts. By keeping these young people safe during a time of crisis, we can support them to change their lives and build a positive future. Our ambition is that those we help never face homelessness again.

We are very proud of our history providing specialist support to young people facing homelessness and the amazing host network and local supporter base we have built. In 2026 we are celebrating our 30th anniversary as a registered charity and will be undertaking a strategic review to develop our new Strategy to be implemented from April 2027.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for new people to join our committed Trustee Board as we renew our strategic direction for 2027 onwards.

Our Board of Trustees share the responsibility for governing SASH and directing how it is managed. As part of our succession planning we are also looking to recruit a Treasurer and Vice Chair.

SASH can reimburse expenses for participating in Board Meetings and required training, such as travel and childcare costs.

Trustees are asked to undertake a basic DBS check every three years for which they will be reimbursed.
