Role description:
The Head of Programming is responsible for managing the station’s playout system, scheduling content, and ensuring high-quality, consistent output on air. This role coordinates with presenters, producers, and show teams to ensure playlists, shows, and automation are correctly prepared and delivered. They oversee the technical and operational aspects of broadcast programming, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and smooth transitions around the clock.

Technical Skills
Strong understanding of radio playout systems and automation software
Audio scheduling and playlist management
Knowledge of broadcast compliance requirements
Attention to detail in timing, transitions, and content accuracy
Ability to diagnose and resolve programming‑related technical issues
Operational & Coordination Skills
Experience creating and maintaining weekly programming grids
Workflow management for show prep, handovers, and automation blocks
Ability to coordinate with presenters, producers, and show teams
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple shows and deadlines
Communication & Leadership Skills
Clear communicator who can give consistent guidance to presenters
Ability to manage expectations and maintain programming standards
Collaborative approach to working with creative teams
