How should money raised through the National Lottery be spent to support communities in the future?
The UK Government is asking individuals and organisations to share their views on how money raised for good causes through National Lottery players should be distributed in the future.
The National Lottery Good Causes Fund: What Matters to You? call for evidence is an opportunity to share your experiences and views on the priorities and needs of communities across the UK.
You can share your thoughts on:
- The issues and priorities that matter most to communities
- How National Lottery funding could best support communities in the future
- The difference National Lottery funding has made in your community
- What could help ensure funding reaches the organisations and communities that need it most
The consultation is open to both individuals and organisations, so VCSE organisations are encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives.
Why does this matter?
National Lottery funding makes a significant contribution to communities across the UK.
The National Lottery Community Fund awarded £939.7 million to communities across the UK in 2024-25, with 86% of awards being small grants supporting local grassroots organisations.
For many voluntary and community organisations, this funding can make a direct difference to the services, activities and opportunities they are able to provide.
Sharing your experience can help demonstrate the impact this funding has locally and contribute to the conversation about what communities need in the future.
How can you take part?
You can read the full call for evidence and find out more about what information the Government is seeking on GOV.UK.
You can also complete the survey either as an individual or on behalf of your organisation.
The survey is open until 23 September 2026.
