Healthwatch York Annual Meeting
The Healthwatch York Annual Meeting took place on 22 September. We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who came along to hear about our work over the last year.
We want to say a huge thank you to all our speakers. Rachael Maskell MP spoke passionately about her work around mental health services and trying to save the independent patient voice. Tom Warren Dolman from Humber and North Yorkshire ICB talked about his involvement with our project about the experiences of trans, non binary and intersex people seeking health care in York.
We heard from Astrid Hanlon from Lived Insights and our own Roger Newton who talked about the amazing work of the Desperation of Poverty Life project, and Nicky Proctor who shared her experiences of working with us on our report about the health experiences of women with long term conditions in York.
We announced the winners of our ‘Making a Difference’ awards, recognising the amazing work that often goes unnoticed in our city. The winners had all received five star reviews in feedback over the last year and included:

We also presented special awards to MyDentist Stonebow, Savannah Thompson from Connecting Our City, and Sarah Fiori of Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, who were all recognised for making an outstanding contribution to health and social care services in York.
