Carer Peer Supporter (Mental Health)

York Carers Centre is an independent charity supporting unpaid carers in York. We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our friendly dedicated team, helping unpaid carers to maintain their health and wellbeing through the provision of information, advice and support.



As a Carer Peer Supporter, you will provide one to one emotional support, information and advice to carers of people with mental ill health, alongside supporting regular group and hospital drop-ins for carers. An understanding of the needs and rights of unpaid carers will be required.

This is an exciting opportunity for people who have a genuine interest in using their previous experience to support others, who can work within the boundaries of confidentiality and can work effectively with a wide range of clients, to provide one to one emotional support and group work.

The role will involve flexible/hybrid working, including occasional evening work, travelling to and working from a range of outreach venues in the York area.

These posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Salary: £26,835 per annum (Actual £10,879 working 15 hours) | Job type: Part time | Hours: 15.00 hours
