Children and Young People’s Counselling Administrator

The Children and Young People’s Counselling administrator is an integral role within our wider counselling service at York Mind. We currently offer two counselling services for young people over the age of 12 years. A 12-21 service, funded by City of York Council, and a York College service for students. Both services provide free, timely access to counselling support for Young People.

As Counselling administrator, you will be the first point of contact for both services, providing a warm welcome, and clear guidance on next steps in the counselling process. You will play a key part in ensuring the clients journey from referral, assessment, into counselling and beyond, is seamless. You will also be a vital support link for counsellors working across the projects.

Our services benefit young people through offering an impartial and confidential space to talk to a trained person about anything that is causing them distress and help them work towards solutions that are right for them. This may include making sense of their own thoughts, learning new ways of dealing with situations, or helping them identify what wider support they need around them.

York Mind works with young people who have a high level of need, and some cases may be complex, with multi agency involvement, (for example, social workers, psychiatrists, specialist drug and alcohol services, etc).

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in supporting a young person’s mental health recovery journey, likes team working, and enjoys getting to grips, and overseeing admin processes and systems.
