Are you passionate about empowering people to make informed decisions about their future? Do you enjoy building relationships, supporting individuals, and making a real difference in your community?
Age UK York is looking for a compassionate and motivated Financial Guidance Officer to help launch and develop an exciting new pilot service that supports people approaching and living in retirement.

About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative project that helps people in mid to later life feel more confident about their future.
Working one-to-one with clients, you will lead on conversations to enable people to explore their options and make informed decisions about later life. While this is not a financial advice role, you will provide guidance and signposting that helps individuals better understand their circumstances and plan ahead.
Topics may include:
• Budgeting and managing finances
• Housing options
• Health and wellbeing
• Employment and volunteering opportunities
• Future care and support needs
Alongside supporting clients, you will play a key role in developing referral pathways, building relationships with partner organisations, promoting the service across York, and helping to measure and report on the project's impact.

About You
We're looking for someone who:
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Enjoys helping people make informed decisions
• Can explain complex information in a clear and accessible way
• Is confident building relationships with a range of stakeholders
• Is organised, proactive, and able to work independently
You may have experience in:
• Information and advice services
• Pensions or financial services
• Adult social care
• Housing support
• Community engagement
• Customer support or guidance services
• Other relevant fields where you've helped people navigate important life decisions

Important Information
Please note:
• Lone working is a requirement of this role.
• The position involves a mix of office-based work, community outreach, and home visits across York and surrounding areas.
• You should be able and willing to travel within the local area.
