York Environment Festival is back for its seventh year, running from 3 October – 1 November 2026.

After a successful 2025 festival, YEFest26 will once again celebrate the brilliant work of local environmental groups, campaigners, businesses, universities, schools and arts organisations across the city.

The call for events opens on Friday 1 May. This year’s festival theme is the future – focusing on how younger generations can drive change, and how we can build a more resilient and sustainable York. If you’re planning something linked to the local environment, or the climate and biodiversity crisis, this is a great chance to be part of the programme. All events will be free and open to the public.

The festival is also looking for volunteers to support this year’s programme, with roles in communications, website support, fundraising, outreach and coordination. Volunteers will receive support, training and valuable experience, as well as the chance to contribute to an exciting city-wide programme.
