ArtRoots supports community projects that improve the experience of people using the National Cycle Network in England.
The programme can fund creative projects that help create a greater sense of safety, belonging and local identity along National Cycle Network routes.
The programme is funded by Active Travel England and delivered by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
Who can apply?
Constituted community groups can apply.
Projects must take place on, or be directly adjacent to, a traffic-free National Cycle Network route in England.
No match funding is required.
What size grants are available?
Standard grants of up to £2,500 are available.
Grants of up to £6,000 are available for projects that can demonstrate significantly increased outcomes.
Funding could support:
- Murals, sculptures and mosaics
- Benches, planters and decorative signage
- Interpretation boards and interactive features
- Temporary art or performances
- Lighting and improvements to existing artwork
- Artist, designer and material costs
