When are volunteers needed: We often have opportunities to raise awareness and fundraise. The dates and times can vary. This role can be very flexible, a couple of hours a month or more would be great, but how much time you give depends on you.

Role description:
This is a chance to be part of a team to help York Carers Centre connect with carers, promote awareness of caring and help us fundraise across the City. There are lots of different parts to this role and you are welcome to choose which activities you fancy, which might include:

• distributing publicity material, such as leaflets and posters, to a variety of settings
• helping staff set up and host stands and stalls at different places
• building links with local groups or businesses who could fundraise for us
• hosting or supporting coffee mornings
• getting involved as much or as little as you like, you could even build up to running
large scale fundraising events!

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Proactive, Enthusiastic & Friendly
Great communication skills
Ability to get on well with new people of all ages and backgrounds
Passion for improving support for carers
Good organisational skills
Confidence to use own initiative & in handling small amounts of cash

What will the volunteer gain/benefit from:
This role provides the opportunity to building on existing communication, interpersonal and listening skills. It’s a great way to meet new people, spread the word and have the satisfaction of making a real difference to carers lives.

We have a recruitment and induction process and ask for at least 1 reference. All volunteers will have access to training to meet the needs of the role. In addition, this role can be used as a platform to get involved in other volunteering opportunities at York Carers Centre. All volunteers have access to staff support and a chance to connect with other volunteers.
