Role description:
Local charity York Older People's Assembly (YOPA) organise an annual festival called the 50+ Festival. It is a 2 week festival running from 1st-17th October 2026 including a parade in York City Centre for the International Day of Older People. 
The Festival has over 100 events over the 2 weeks aimed at the over 50s, including:
Social groups
Talks
Sport and leisure activities
Advice sessions

YOPA are looking for volunteer Brochure Distributers. YOPA produces circa 4000 brochures for the 50+ festival which in 2026 runs from 1-17 October. We are looking for individuals or organisations to help us distribute brochures in two ways:

Before the festival:
During the month of September, working to a plan from the Distribution Lead Volunteer, take copies to shops/community centres/cultural venues/GP surgeries/places of worship and more. Check their visibility and any replacements needed.
On Saturday, October 3rd:
This is the IDOP celebratory day (International Day of Older People) when we take over St Helen's Square with an all-day programme of music and fun. Including a civic welcome from the Lord Mayor. We need individuals and/or organisations to distribute brochures plus the day's programme to shoppers and passers by in the city centre.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Flexibility in hours, we appreciate any time you can give!
Good communication and people skills.
Ability to travel to different organisations in York for distributing brochures (a car may be required due to large quantities of brochures).

Will there be a DBS check? No

Driving Licence required? Yes

Volunteer's own vehicle required? Yes
