Location of voluntary activity:
You will serve as a warm and welcoming ambassador for the charity, helping to strengthen our presence within the local community.

When are volunteers needed: This is an ad‑hoc opportunity, so there are no fixed days or times required; we will work flexibly around your availability. As a charity, we attend regular events and host stalls throughout the year, and we will share these dates with you in advance to ensure you have plenty of time to plan ahead.

Role description:
As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you will represent MySight York at events, information stalls and fundraising activities across the city.

You will help raise awareness of sight loss, promote inclusion, and generate vital income that enables local people to remain independent and connected.

The role may include:
• Supporting MySight York’s attendance at community events, stalls, fairs and local gatherings
• Engaging members of the public in conversation about MySight York’s work
• Assisting with setting up and dismantling stalls
• Suggesting beneficial community events for MySight York to take part in
• Supporting low-level fundraising activities, e.g., raffles and tombolas
• Transporting event materials or donated items (where possible)

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
We are looking for individuals who are:
• Confident speaking to members of the public
• Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable
• Reliable, proactive and willing to work as part of a team
• Passionate about accessibility and inclusion

What will the volunteer gain/benefit from:
