Role description:
The York Mystery Plays return in 2026, bringing the city’s medieval waggon plays back to the streets. Plays are performed on waggons that travel between four locations in the city centre, in a world-famous outdoor theatre experience for audiences of all ages.
You will work as part of a friendly team to support the York Mystery Plays Fringe Events, Arts and Promotions.
Most roles will be public-facing, but there is also a need for an Arts Set-Up team to help set-up and take down exhibitions and installations.
Your job could be giving information to the general public about what is happening and promoting the festival; taking tickets for events; selling programmes and merchandise throughout the Festival period; being on duty to ensure the safety and comfort of the public; supporting the delivery and clear-up of events of all types.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
• Reliability and friendliness are essential.
• Confidence with cash handling an advantage for some roles
No experience is necessary.
