Role description:
The Head of IT is responsible for the technical stability, security, and continuous improvement of all technology used across Jorvik Radio. This role oversees studio hardware, networking infrastructure, cloud services, broadcast systems, and digital platforms. They ensure all technical operations run reliably, manage upgrades and maintenance, and support presenters and volunteers with IT issues. The role also develops long-term technology strategy to support the station’s growth and digital innovation.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Networking & Infrastructure
Strong grasp of LAN/WAN management, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi optimisation, and network monitoring.
Hardware & Systems Maintenance
Experience with studio equipment, servers, workstations, audio interfaces, UPS systems, and on‑premise installations.
Cloud Services & Digital Platforms
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, cloud storage, web hosting, automation tools, and remote access solutions.
Cybersecurity
Ability to implement secure configurations, manage access controls, monitor threats, and maintain backups/disaster recovery plans.
Systems Integration
Knowledge of bringing together hardware, software, scheduling tools, and broadcast systems into a seamless workflow.
