When are volunteers needed: This is a substantial role, with governors serving a four-year term of office, 8 hours every month.

Role description:
Schools and academies rely on voluntary board members to provide effective strategic leadership, oversight and challenge in an increasingly complex landscape.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Working as a whole governing board to ensure the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Education settings are looking for committed individuals who are interested in supporting governing boards. Experience of leadership, HR, legal, finance, data, education and corporate governance are particularly welcome. Support and training for this role will be provided.
