Role description:
Hairdressing is one of the many services we provide to those using our services which help to promote a feeling of wellbeing. Our volunteer hairdressers find their sessions highly enjoyable and rewarding, and the patients very much appreciate the service.
What will I be doing?
* Providing simple hairdressing services such as washing, setting and cutting for patients or relatives who are unable to leave their relatives for prolonged periods. Beard trimming and shaving (optional)
* Liaising with staff
* Recording perm or colour treatments carefully (these are rarely requested and are only done in close consultation with staff)
* Hair styling for special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays or weddings.
* Adhering to policies concerning confidentiality, infection prevention and control, moving and handling, safeguarding and health and safety
Support and Supervision
Hairdresser volunteers report to the Complementary Therapy Lead who will support you to understand the unique needs of the patients and overcome any mobility challenges to enable the patient to have their hair cut/styled.
The Volunteer Services Department staff will help with your induction and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering.
