Our work together as a Partnership in York to promote the health and well-being of children and their families continues to grow from strength to strength.

Relationships play a fundamental role in the wellbeing of every baby, child and young person. Healthy relationships are the foundation of family life supporting health, wellbeing and providing a basis for all future relationships. If there is frequent, intense and poorly resolved conflict within family relationships the impact on children can be negative and long lasting. We want all parents, carers and children in York to be able to build positive, healthy and trusting relationships. We want to support families to understand their behaviours, to identify causes of conflict and to improve the way in which they communicate so that they address challenges in a more constructive, mutually respectful way.

In York we want all practitioners, through their conversations and relationship building skills, to support families experiencing conflict at the very earliest opportunity. Whilst not every relationship experiencing conflict escalates into domestic abuse, it is important to acknowledge and be aware that parental conflict could act as a pre-cursor to domestic abuse.

As soon as conflict emerges, we want practitioners working with families across York to have the confidence to ask the questions and be equipped to deal with the answers. To help us ensure we are supporting the workforce effectively to do this please spend just 5 minutes to tell us about your own awareness, knowledge and experience of parental conflict by completing this short survey.

The closing date for the survey is 30 June 2025.
